Fielding Dawson correspondence to Marcella Simpson

Abstract

Between 1972 and 1994, American author and artist Fielding Dawson (1930-2002) sent a variety of materials to his grandmother, Marcella Simpson, including letters, articles, journals, manuscripts, and ephemera. The collection provides insight into Dawson's literary career and his development as a creative wring teacher in correctional facilities.

The Everett C. & Louise Stanton Johnson papers concern the personal affairs of prominent Delaware publisher and politician Everett C. Johnson (1877-1926) and his wife Louise Staton Johnson (1882-1977). In addition, the collection contains material from their Newark publishing house, the Press of Kells, which brought the Arts and Crafts Movement to the community from 1916 to 1918.

Abstract Pulitzer Prize-winning American poet W.D. (William De Witt) Snodgrass (1926-2009) wrote 58 letters between 1944 and 1946 to his then-fiancée Lila Jean Hank after being drafted into the United States Navy and stationed in Saipan.
